Musings of a Village Florist Well Mothering Sunday came and went - in a complete blur if I'm honest. I don't think I've ever had such a busy Mothering Sunday weekend since opening the shop. The good thing now is that I'm an awful lot quicker at making up bouquets than I was a few years ago. We delivered across what seems like a vast area of the Midlands. From Lichfield to Wednesbury and it worked relatively smoothly. Mr E (my very willing Dad) went in one direction while Mr B went in another. On the Sunday I joined in and went off in a third car which shared out the deliveries quite well. Well that was the plan. Walsall it seemed had different ideas with traffic diversions and traffic jams, but all the bouquets got delivered by lunchtime. I'm a mum myself so I squeezed in a trip to see my lovely girlies who were staying with their dad for the weekend as well. Inspite of the Mothering Sunday work I managed to have a evening out on Saturday evening with friends who were either ringing in the 12 bell competition eliminator or supporting the Birmingham band. What?? Church Bells! I started ringing when I was about 12, gave up in my 20's and came back to it a few years ago. The 12 bell competition is a big national competition to find the band who ring the best on 12 bells and the band from Birmingham won last year and were ringing in the eliminator at Birmingham. Inspite of arriving almost 4 hours after the partying after Birmingham had won the eliminator I had a really lovely evening. Bellringing is a big part of my life so there are bound to be musings about it from time to time. Who needs nice flowers after receiving them on Mothering Sunday? Well you might think that, but I've still had a fairly busy week. The chaos left on Sunday morning needed sorting out. I needed a fresh delivery. People still have birthdays, anniversaries and funerals. So life carries on. Spring seems to have sprung. The weather is nice. Too nice to wear a fleece now in the shop, which I discovered as I sweltered yesterday. Must be time for a holiday! Have fun and take care |
